Develop Annual Maximum Rainfall Series

HistoRain calculates annual maximum rainfall depths across multiple storm durations directly from the historical record. Compare annual maxima across years and durations, identify significant events, and trace each maximum back to the underlying hourly rainfall observations.

Develop Rainfall Frequency & Design Information

Use the Annual Maximum Series to develop duration-based rainfall frequency information for engineering analysis and design. HistoRain provides DDF and IDF results across multiple storm durations and return periods while retaining access to the observed annual maxima and frequency analysis behind each result.

Data Sources

Rainfall data from established public and historical sources

HistoRain provides access to historical rainfall and precipitation records from NOAA, Environment and Climate Change Canada, and other available archives. Source information is retained as data moves through the HistoRain workflow.

Maintain a Defensible Data Record

HistoRain preserves data-source information and provenance throughout the analysis workflow. Engineers can review record coverage and data quality before analysis and trace calculated results back to the rainfall observations from which they were developed..
